How do I stop my tea bag sachet packaging losing flavor before the expiry date?

The most common cause is a barrier structure that was never actually specified against your blend. Delicate green and white teas oxidize fastest and need a foil laminate with full light block. Heartier black teas and herbal blends can often run on a metallized film at lower cost without a noticeable difference in shelf life.

Seal integrity matters just as much as the film itself. On sachet formats, a weak seal on the individual tea bag lets moisture and air in before the outer pouch is ever opened, so the barrier of the outer pouch alone cannot save a poorly sealed sachet. We check both together rather than assuming the outer packaging is doing all the work.

Can you specify sachet film for my existing tea bagging machine?

Yes, and this is one of the main reasons tea brands come to us. Sachet film has to match your bagger’s web width, seal temperature range, and filter paper compatibility, and brands running an existing machine often do not hold those specifications in writing anywhere.

We contact your equipment provider or co-packer directly and work from their machine data through our co-manufacturer partnership service. Confirming compatibility before a roll of film ships costs considerably less than discovering a seal defect once packing has already started.

Do you offer compostable packaging for loose leaf tea?

Yes, and tea brands ask for this more often than most categories we work with, since the customer base skews toward sustainability-conscious buyers. Compostable stand-up pouches made from bio-based films exist for loose leaf formats, though industrial composting access varies by municipality in Canada and the United States, which affects whether the claim on the pack actually means anything to the customer.

Mono material polyethylene structures are a second route, qualifying for store drop-off recycling at a somewhat lower barrier than foil laminates. We set out what each option does to your barrier, your shelf life, and your unit cost, then you decide which trade-off fits your brand.

How much tea packaging do I have to order at once?

Minimum quantities depend on the format, the print method, and the manufacturer we source from, so a single figure would mislead most tea brands who ask. Sachet rollstock runs to a different minimum than finished pouches, and digital printing carries lower minimums than plate-based printing, which matters for brands running many seasonal or limited edition blends.

What we can do is separate the print minimum from your cash outlay.
