Custom Coffee Packaging Solutions

Custom coffee packaging solutions built around your roast, your filling equipment and your shelf life target. We source bags, cartons and displays with product arriving on schedule across Canada and the United States.

Coffee Packaging Fails on Specification, Not on Design

Most roasters we meet are not unhappy with how their bag looks. They are dealing with film that runs badly at the co-packer, valves that leak after a month on shelf, or a print minimum that forced them to buy a year of packaging up front.

A printer sells you what a printer already makes. A coffee packaging supplier that owns a press has to fill that press. Armour Rose works the other way around, starting with your product, your equipment and your order pattern, then finding the manufacturer that fits through our sourcing and brokering model.

Send us your current spec and your last twelve months of packaging purchases, and we will tell you where the money is going and what we would change.

Two Ways to Buy Coffee Packaging

Most roasters buy packaging one problem at a time, patching each issue as it comes up. We build the whole specification once, so the problems on the left stop recurring on every reorder instead of coming back with the next production run.

What Usually Goes Wrong

Our Solutions

Results You Can Measure on Your Next Roast Run

Roasters come to us for three outcomes: packaging that runs clean on the filler, working capital that stays in the business instead of sitting on a pallet of film, and one point of contact in place of five separate suppliers. Good coffee packaging for roasters delivers all three at once.

Coffee Packaging Formats We Source

Whole bean, ground, single serve and foodservice each pull toward a different format. We match the format to how you fill and how you sell, as part of a wider custom coffee packaging solutions program.

Side Gusset Bags

The traditional coffee format. Efficient on film, strong vertical shelf presence, and it accepts a one-way degassing valve on the front or side panel.

Flat Bottom Pouches

Five printable panels and a base that squares up on shelf. Favored for retail whole bean that has to hold its own beside national brands.

Stand-Up Pouches

Zipper reseal and a footprint suited to ground coffee and smaller retail sizes. Cost effective across several SKUs when print runs get combined.

Roll Stock Film

For vertical form fill seal lines running fractional packs, filter packs and stick packs. Specified to your web width, seal profile and machine speed.

Pillow pouches / lay-flat

For automated packing lines handling snacks and dry goods. Sized to match your equipment, film structure and sealing requirements.

Flow wrap film

For individually wrapped products requiring consistent machine performance, secure seals and high-quality printed film.

Sachets & stick packs

For single-serve powders, samples and small portions requiring compact packaging, dependable barriers and easy opening.

Resealable / zipper pouches

For products requiring repeated opening and closing while helping maintain freshness, convenience and shelf-ready presentation.

Folding cartons

For retail products needing lightweight protection, efficient packing and a premium custom-printed paperboard presentation.

Corrugated shipping boxes

For shipping and distribution where strength, product protection and efficient handling are essential from warehouse to delivery.

Carton sleeves & wraps

For adding branding, product information and shelf appeal around trays, tubs and existing product packs.

Auto-cartoning ready cartons

For automated cartoning lines requiring consistent dimensions, reliable feeding and efficient high-speed production.

PDQ & counter displays

For countertop and shelf merchandising that keeps products organized, highly visible and easy for shoppers to access.

Floor & pallet displays

For high-impact retail promotions requiring durable branded displays that handle larger product volumes and store-ready placement.

Shelf-ready packaging & trays

For faster retail stocking and stronger shelf presentation while providing protection through shipping and handling.

Barrier, Valves and Shelf Life for Roasted Coffee

Oxygen ends a roast, and this is the single fact that roasted coffee packaging design has to answer for. Coffee also gives off carbon dioxide for days after roasting, so the bag has to let gas out without letting oxygen back in. A one-way degassing valve does that job, and where it sits matters as much as whether it is there, since a valve over a fill line or seal area creates rejects at the filler.

Barrier comes from the film structure. Foil laminates give the highest oxygen and moisture barrier and block light completely. Clear high barrier structures let customers see the beans while holding a usable barrier, and mono material films trade some barrier for store drop-off recyclability. Ground coffee stales faster than whole bean, so it generally needs a higher barrier or a shorter stated shelf life.

We work backwards from the shelf life you intend to print on the pack. Our flexible films and pouches range covers the full structure list, inside the wider custom packaging program we build for each brand. Our approved manufacturing partners hold certifications including Food Safety Certification, SQF, BRC, ISO, and FSC, covering both direct food contact and secondary and tertiary packaging in food facilities. Documentation is available on request.

How We Build Your Custom Coffee Packaging Solutions

Four things happen behind the scenes on every coffee account, in this order, before your first production run ever gets scheduled.

Packaging Review

Specification and spend audit

We work through your current films, cartons and shippers alongside twelve months of purchase history to find duplicate SKUs and over-specified barrier.

Equipment Matching

Built around your filler

We take your filling equipment into account before sourcing and speak to your co-manufacturer directly, including helping set up their equipment when a run needs it.

Make and Hold

Print once, release monthly

Our make and hold programs let you print at the efficient quantity and draw stock down as needed, instead of funding a year of film to reach a price break.

Getting Your Custom Coffee Packaging Solutions Started

The internal work above happens on our side. Here is what our custom coffee packaging solutions process looks like from your seat, start to first delivery.

01

Book a Spec Review

Send your current bag specification and purchase history. We come back with what we would change and what the same range costs through one supplier.

02

Get Matched and Quoted

We source against your equipment and volume, not a catalog. You get a specification and pricing built for your actual filler and order pattern.

03

Launch and Reorder

First production run ships, and future orders draw down from your make and hold inventory instead of starting a new print run from zero.

We compete with manufacturers who can only sell you what they already make. Our job is to find what your coffee actually needs.

Why Coffee Roasters Work With Us

We manage packaging production for food and beverage brands across North America through a vetted network of manufacturing partners, most spending between one hundred thousand and five hundred thousand dollars a year on packaging. That is the stage where a dedicated procurement hire is not justified yet, but getting packaging wrong is already expensive, which is exactly where our custom coffee packaging solutions save the most.

One Partner, Every Format

Films, folding cartons, corrugated shippers, labels and displays arrive on one purchase order. Flexible printers cannot supply folding cartons and sleeves.

Consultative, Not Transactional

We review your business and packaging requirements before quoting anything, surfacing needs a line-item quote never asks about.

Equipment Aware Sourcing

We factor your filling equipment into the specification and coordinate with co-packers through our co-manufacturer partnerships service.

Customers Who Stay

Between sixty-five and seventy percent of our revenue comes from repeat customers. Read what they say on our client testimonials page.

Built for Growing Coffee and Beverage Brands

We supply specialty roasters, private label programs, subscription coffee brands and roasteries serving cafes and grocery. Wholesale coffee packaging and retail packs often run side by side in the same program.

Coffee also sits alongside formats we already supply in volume: retail cartons for gift sets, corrugated shippers for direct to consumer orders, and retail display trays for grocery placement. Roasters expanding into any of those add them to the same custom coffee packaging solutions program rather than starting a fresh supplier search. One coffee account relocated production from Chicago to Florida mid-contract. Because we source across a vetted network of manufacturing partners rather than depending on one plant, we shifted the account to the right partner near the new facility, held the agreed lead times, and kept pricing stable throughout the move. The customer’s supply chain never saw a gap.

Coffee Packaging Questions, Answered

What custom coffee packaging solutions do you supply?

We source and supply the formats used across roasted coffee: side gusset bags, flat bottom and box pouches, stand-up pouches with zipper reseal, pillow pouches, and roll stock film for vertical form fill seal lines running fractional packs, filter packs and stick packs. Alongside flexible packaging we supply folding cartons for retail and gift presentation, corrugated shippers, pressure sensitive labels, and counter or PDQ displays for grocery placement.

Because we source production through a vetted network of manufacturing partners rather than manufacturing ourselves, no single production method limits what we can offer. Start with a conversation about your current specification and we will map out what your range actually needs.

In almost every case, yes. Roasted coffee releases carbon dioxide for several days after roasting. Sealed into a high barrier bag with no way to vent, that gas inflates the pack, stresses the seals, and in bad cases splits them open in transit. A one-way degassing valve lets the carbon dioxide out while blocking oxygen from getting back in.

The exceptions are packs filled and consumed quickly, and single serve formats small enough that gas build-up never becomes a problem. Valve position deserves attention too. A valve sitting where your filler grips or seals the bag will cause rejects, so we confirm placement against your equipment before artwork gets signed off rather than after the first production run.

This is one of the main reasons roasters come to us in the first place. Film width, unwind direction, seal temperature range, valve placement and pouch tolerances all have to suit the machine doing the filling, and roasters who use a co-manufacturer often do not hold those specifications themselves.

We contact your co-packer directly and work from their machine data through our co-manufacturer partnership service. On past accounts we have gone beyond sourcing and worked alongside a customer’s co-manufacturer to get their equipment set up so the pouches ran correctly. Sorting this out before production costs considerably less than discovering a mismatch once a pallet of film has already landed.

Three routes are realistic today, and each carries a trade-off worth understanding before you commit.

Mono material polyethylene structures qualify for store drop-off recycling across much of North America, though they carry a lower oxygen barrier than foil laminates, so your shelf life claim may need revising. Post-consumer recycled content cuts virgin plastic without changing the recycling route. Compostable films exist, though industrial composting access varies widely by municipality in Canada and the United States, which affects whether the claim means anything to your customer.

We set out what each option does to your barrier, your shelf life and your unit cost, then you decide. Extended producer responsibility obligations are also worth factoring in if you sell into provinces running EPR schemes.

Minimum quantities depend on the format, the print method and the manufacturer we source from, so a single figure would mislead most roasters who ask. Roll stock runs to a different minimum than finished pouches. Digital printing carries lower minimums than plate-based printing.

What we can do is separate the print minimum from your cash outlay. Our make and hold inventory programs let you print at the quantity that earns the best unit price, then release stock against actual usage. Roasters running seasonal blends or testing new SKUs use this to avoid funding twelve months of film simply to reach a price break. Ask us for real figures against your format and volume.

Yes. We operate from North York in Toronto and supply brand owners across Canada and throughout the United States. Cross-border movement is routine here, and customs brokerage forms part of what we handle, so a Canadian roaster shipping finished goods into a US distribution network is not managing clearance separately.

Delivery scheduling, inventory positioning and freight coordination run through our delivery and inventory management service. If you operate several facilities or use co-packers in different locations, we can hold stock centrally and release it to each site. Call 416-688-8641 or use the form on this page to get started.
