Popped popcorn behaves nothing like an unpopped kernel once it hits packaging, and most bags are specified as though the two were the same product. Custom popcorn packaging solutions built around which one you actually ship, with product arriving on schedule across Canada and the United States.
Popped popcorn carries residual oil and, if it is kettle corn or a flavored variety, sugar and moisture that a standard chip bag film was never built to handle. Grease works through weak films over time, leaving a bag that looks fine on day one and stained by the second week on shelf. Kettle corn also gives off a small amount of moisture after popping, and a bag sealed without any venting can go soft before it ever reaches a customer.
A popcorn packaging supplier that owns a press sells you whatever film that press already runs, rarely tested against your actual grease and moisture profile. Custom popcorn bags need to be specified against the coating, not assumed from a generic snack template. Our sourcing and brokering model starts with your product, whether it is raw kernels, plain popped corn, or a sweet or savory coated variety, then finds the structure built for it. That is what custom popcorn packaging solutions should mean.
Most popcorn brands discover a grease or venting gap only after bags come back stained or soft from retail. We specify against your actual product up front, so that complaint never arrives.
Popcorn brands come to us for bags that stay grease-free through the sell-by date, kettle corn that stays crisp instead of going soft, and one point of contact instead of five separate suppliers. Custom popcorn packaging solutions should deliver all three without a retail return telling you it failed.
Raw kernels, plain popped corn, and kettle corn packaging each pull toward a different structure. Kettle corn in particular needs popcorn bag venting that a generic snack bag was never built to provide. We match the format to your product, as part of a wider custom popcorn packaging solutions program.
Zipper reseal for multi-serve popped popcorn, with room for a grease resistant inner layer on flavored and kettle varieties.
Efficient on film for single-serve popped corn and raw kernel packs sold in smaller portions or foodservice quantities.
For form fill seal lines running high-volume popcorn production. Specified to your web width, seal profile and grease exposure.
Rigid presentation for holiday and gift popcorn programs, paired with a grease-resistant liner rather than direct food contact with printed board.
Popcorn packaging has to solve two problems that most other snack categories do not face together. Grease from butter, oil, or a flavor coating migrates through weak films over weeks, staining the outside of the bag and eventually the shelf. Moisture is the second issue, and it runs in the opposite direction from most snacks, since freshly popped corn and kettle corn give off a small amount of steam after popping that has to escape or the product goes soft and chewy instead of staying crisp.
Grease resistant laminates with an inner barrier layer solve the first problem. A properly placed vent or micro-perforation solves the second, letting residual moisture escape without letting outside humidity back in. Getting the balance wrong in either direction produces a bag that either fails on shelf appearance or fails on product texture.
Raw kernel packaging is a different problem entirely, since kernels need moisture protection to pop properly rather than grease resistance. We specify each separately rather than defaulting both product types to the same film. Our flexible films and pouches range covers this full structure list, inside the wider custom packaging program we build for each brand. Our approved manufacturing partners hold certifications including Food Safety Certification, SQF, BRC, ISO, and FSC, covering both direct food contact and secondary and tertiary packaging in food facilities. Documentation is available on request.
Four things happen behind the scenes on every popcorn account, in this order, before your first production run is ever scheduled.
We look at your current bag and your flavor lineup to find where grease resistance or venting does not match what the product actually gives off.
We take your filling equipment into account before sourcing and speak to your co-manufacturer directly, whether you fill by hand or run automated rollstock.
We operate from Toronto into Canada and the United States. Customs brokerage sits inside our service, run through the same logistics and fulfillment team.
Our make and hold programs let you print at the efficient quantity and draw stock down as needed, instead of funding a year of a seasonal flavor to reach a price break.
The internal work above happens on our side. Here is what the process looks like from your seat, start to first delivery.
Send your current bag specification and flavor lineup. We come back with where grease resistance or venting is falling short.
We source against your equipment and volume, not a catalog. You get a specification and pricing built for your actual production.
First production run ships, and future orders draw down from your make and hold inventory instead of starting a new print run from zero.
We manage packaging production for food and beverage brands across North America through a vetted network of manufacturing partners, most spending between one hundred thousand and five hundred thousand dollars a year on packaging. That is the stage where a dedicated procurement hire is not justified yet, but a grease-stained bag on shelf is already expensive, which is exactly where our custom popcorn packaging solutions save the most.
Bags, tins, shippers, labels and displays arrive on one purchase order. Flexible printers cannot supply folding cartons and sleeves, which is why most popcorn brands run two or three vendors side by side.
We review your product and flavor lineup before quoting anything, surfacing needs a line-item quote never asks about.
We factor your filling equipment into the specification and coordinate with co-packers through our co-manufacturer partnerships service.
Between sixty-five and seventy percent of our revenue comes from repeat customers. Read what they say on our client testimonials page.
We supply gourmet popcorn brands, kettle corn producers, and raw kernel suppliers expanding beyond farmers markets and local retail. Wholesale popcorn packaging and gift tin programs often run side by side in the same account, and if you are moving from hand-filled bags to an automated line, that transition is where venting and barrier failures start to show up for the first time.
Popcorn also sits alongside formats we already supply in volume: gift tins and cartons for holiday programs, corrugated shippers for direct to consumer orders, and retail display trays for grocery placement. Brands expanding into any of those add them to the same custom popcorn packaging solutions program rather than starting a fresh supplier search.
Reliability that teams can measure.
As a small but growing brand, we struggled to find a packaging supplier who would take us seriously. AR not only welcomed us — they partnered with us. Their work with other startups showed in the quality of our packaging, and Daron went above and beyond, including helping our co-manufacturer optimize their equipment so our pouches came out perfect. We couldn’t ask for a more supportive, solution-focused partner.
ARG is the packaging partner we always needed. They cut through confusion, move fast, and operate like part of our internal team. Their expertise has streamlined our product development, and their above-and-beyond support — like Daron personally delivering samples to our co-manufacturer — is unmatched. We trust them completely.
Armour Rose Group believed in us when other suppliers didn’t. They treated us with the professionalism of a much larger brand and played a real role in helping us scale. Their team is collaborative, reliable, and always willing to solve problems together. Daron’s proactive support and genuine investment in our success stand out above anything we’ve experienced in packaging. Highly recommended.
From day one, the team has been a trusted partner. They provided clear guidance, cost-effective solutions under tight timelines, and the flexibility to scale with a startup. Communication is fast, pricing is transparent, and deliveries are consistently on time and high quality. Support is always there when needed, which makes a real difference. The entire experience makes you feel safe and in good hands— we absolutely recommend Armour Rose Group.
We source and supply the formats used across popcorn: stand-up pouches with zipper reseal for multi-serve popped corn, lay flat pouches for single-serve packs and raw kernels, rollstock film for automated production lines, and gift tins and cartons for holiday and retail presentation. Alongside flexible packaging we supply corrugated shippers for direct to consumer orders, pressure sensitive labels, and counter or PDQ displays for grocery placement.
Because we source production through a vetted network of manufacturing partners rather than manufacturing ourselves, no single production method limits what we can offer. Start with a conversation about your current specification and we will map out what your range actually needs.
Grease from butter, oil, or a flavor coating migrates slowly through a film that was not built to resist it. Standard chip bag laminates are specified for oil from frying, which behaves differently than the grease and sugar combination on kettle corn or heavily coated flavors, so a film that works fine on plain popcorn can still stain on a buttery or caramel variety.
The fix is a grease resistant inner layer specified for your actual coating, not a generic snack film applied across every flavor in your lineup. We test the specification against your specific flavor profile rather than assuming one barrier works for all of them.
Freshly popped corn, and kettle corn in particular, releases a small amount of residual moisture and steam after popping. A bag sealed with no way for that moisture to escape traps it inside, and the product goes soft and chewy within days instead of staying crisp through its intended shelf life.
Vent placement is measured in vent size and count per square inch of film, not just added as a single hole, since too few vents leave moisture trapped in pockets while too many compromise the barrier against outside humidity. We test this ratio against your actual batch size and cooling time before finalizing a spec, rather than applying a standard vent pattern across every kettle corn order.
Mono material polyethylene structures qualify for store drop-off recycling across much of North America, though grease resistant additives can sometimes complicate the recycling stream, so we confirm compatibility before specifying a sustainable structure for coated or buttered varieties. Post-consumer recycled content is a more straightforward option for plain popcorn packaging that does not carry heavy grease exposure.
We set out what each option does to your barrier, your shelf life, and your unit cost, then you decide which trade-off fits your flavor lineup.
Minimum quantities depend on the format, the print method, and the manufacturer we source from, so a single figure would mislead most popcorn brands who ask. Gift tins carry a different minimum than flexible bags, and digital printing carries lower minimums than plate-based printing, which matters for brands running seasonal or holiday flavors.
What we can do is separate the print minimum from your cash outlay. Our make and hold inventory programs let you print at the quantity that earns the best unit price, then release stock against actual usage, so a holiday-only flavor is not funded at the same rate as your year-round bestseller.
Yes. We operate from North York in Toronto and supply brand owners across Canada and throughout the United States. Cross-border movement is routine here, and customs brokerage forms part of what we handle, so a Canadian brand shipping into a US distribution network is not managing clearance separately.
Delivery scheduling, inventory positioning, and freight coordination run through our delivery and inventory management service. If you operate several facilities or use co-packers in different locations, we can hold stock centrally and release it to each site. Call 416-688-8641 or use the form on this page to get started.
Send us your current bag specification and flavor lineup. We come back with where grease resistance or venting is falling short and what the same range costs running through one supplier. No obligation to move anything, and no pressure to change what already works.
