A crushed bag or a stale chip does more damage to a snack brand than almost any other packaging failure, because the product is gone the moment it happens. Custom chips and crisps packaging solutions built around your product, your line speed and your shelf life target, with product arriving on schedule across Canada and the United States.
Chips and crisps are one of the least forgiving snack categories. Oxygen turns the oil rancid within weeks. Moisture kills the crunch faster than almost anything else on shelf. And a bag without enough cushioning air arrives at the store with half its contents crushed to powder, regardless of how good the print job looks.
A chips packaging supplier that owns a press sells you whatever film that press already runs, rarely specified against your actual product and route to market. Potato chip packaging and extruded crisp packaging rarely share the identical specification. Our sourcing and brokering model starts with your chip, your fryer-to-shelf timeline, and your distribution distance, then finds the structure that survives it. That is what custom chips and crisps packaging solutions should mean, not a bag a supplier already had running.
Most chip brands discover a barrier or cushioning gap only after a complaint about stale or crushed product reaches them. We specify against your distribution route up front, so that complaint never arrives.
Chip brands come to us for packaging that survives distribution without crushing, oil that stays fresh through the stated shelf life, and one point of contact instead of five separate suppliers. Custom chips and crisps packaging solutions should deliver all three without you finding out about a failure from a customer complaint.
Kettle chips, extruded crisps and multi-serve bags each pull toward a different structure. Custom crisps bags are matched to your fryer and your fill line, as part of a wider custom chips and crisps packaging solutions program.
The standard for kettle-style chips. Wide base for cushioning air volume and strong shelf standing for multi-serve family sizes.
Efficient on film for single-serve chip bags where shelf footprint and unit cost outweigh the need for a standing base.
For vertical form fill seal lines running high-speed chip and crisp production. Specified to your web width, seal profile and fill volume.
Zipper reseal for premium multi-serve crisps positioned as a resealable snack rather than a single sitting bag.
Two things end a chip’s shelf life: oxygen turning the frying oil rancid, and moisture stealing the crunch. A metallized or foil laminate blocks both, and the barrier level needed scales with the oil content and the frying method, so a kettle-cooked chip and a baked crisp rarely need the identical structure.
Cushioning is the second, less discussed half of the equation. Bags filled with too little air volume arrive crushed regardless of how strong the barrier is, because the chips have nowhere to absorb the shock of stacking and transit. Nitrogen flushing displaces oxygen inside the bag while also providing that cushion, which is why most high-quality chip packaging is nitrogen flushed rather than simply sealed with ambient air.
We specify barrier and fill volume together, against your actual product, your fryer, and your distribution distance. Our flexible films and pouches range covers this full structure list, inside the wider custom packaging program we build for each brand. Our approved manufacturing partners hold certifications including Food Safety Certification, SQF, BRC, ISO, and FSC, covering both direct food contact and secondary and tertiary packaging in food facilities. Documentation is available on request.
Four things happen behind the scenes on every chip account, in this order, before your first production run is ever scheduled.
We look at your current bag, your distribution route, and your complaint history to find where barrier or fill volume falls short.
We take your filling equipment into account before sourcing and speak to your co-manufacturer directly, so film runs clean at your actual line speed.
We operate from Toronto into Canada and the United States. Customs brokerage sits inside our service, run through the same logistics and fulfillment team.
Our make and hold programs let you print at the efficient quantity and draw stock down as needed, instead of funding a year of a seasonal flavor to reach a price break.
The internal work above happens on our side. Here is what the process looks like from your seat, start to first delivery.
Send your current bag specification and any complaint history. We come back with where barrier or cushioning is falling short.
We source against your VFFS line and volume, not a catalog. You get a specification and pricing built for your actual production.
First production run ships, and future orders draw down from your make and hold inventory instead of starting a new print run from zero.
We manage packaging production for food and beverage brands across North America through a vetted network of manufacturing partners, most spending between one hundred thousand and five hundred thousand dollars a year on packaging. That is the stage where a dedicated procurement hire is not justified yet, but a crushed or stale complaint is already expensive, which is exactly where our custom chips and crisps packaging solutions save the most.
Bags, cartons, shippers, labels and displays arrive on one purchase order. Flexible printers cannot supply folding cartons and sleeves, which is why most chip brands run two or three vendors side by side.
We review your product and distribution route before quoting anything, surfacing needs a line-item quote never asks about.
We factor your VFFS line into the specification and coordinate with co-packers through our co-manufacturer partnerships service.
Between sixty-five and seventy percent of our revenue comes from repeat customers. Read what they say on our client testimonials page.
We supply kettle chip brands, extruded crisp makers, and multi-flavor snack lines expanding distribution beyond local retail. Wholesale chip bags and single-serve packs often run side by side in the same program, and if you are moving from a regional distributor to national grocery, that transition is where cushioning and barrier failures start to show up for the first time.
Chips also sit alongside formats we already supply in volume: retail cartons for variety packs, corrugated shippers for direct to consumer orders, and retail display trays for grocery placement. Brands expanding into any of those add them to the same broader packaging program rather than starting a fresh supplier search for each new format. Brands scaling from regional to national distribution often discover their existing bag was never tested against the longer transit times a bigger footprint requires. We have handled this kind of disruption before. When one customer relocated production from Chicago to Florida, we shifted them to the right partner within our vetted network, held their existing lead times, and kept pricing stable through the move. Expanding distribution should not mean re-sourcing your packaging from scratch.
Reliability that teams can measure.
As a small but growing brand, we struggled to find a packaging supplier who would take us seriously. AR not only welcomed us — they partnered with us. Their work with other startups showed in the quality of our packaging, and Daron went above and beyond, including helping our co-manufacturer optimize their equipment so our pouches came out perfect. We couldn’t ask for a more supportive, solution-focused partner.
ARG is the packaging partner we always needed. They cut through confusion, move fast, and operate like part of our internal team. Their expertise has streamlined our product development, and their above-and-beyond support — like Daron personally delivering samples to our co-manufacturer — is unmatched. We trust them completely.
Armour Rose Group believed in us when other suppliers didn’t. They treated us with the professionalism of a much larger brand and played a real role in helping us scale. Their team is collaborative, reliable, and always willing to solve problems together. Daron’s proactive support and genuine investment in our success stand out above anything we’ve experienced in packaging. Highly recommended.
From day one, the team has been a trusted partner. They provided clear guidance, cost-effective solutions under tight timelines, and the flexibility to scale with a startup. Communication is fast, pricing is transparent, and deliveries are consistently on time and high quality. Support is always there when needed, which makes a real difference. The entire experience makes you feel safe and in good hands— we absolutely recommend Armour Rose Group.
We source and supply the formats used across chips and crisps: side gusset bags for kettle-style chips, lay flat pouches for single-serve bags, stand-up pouches with zipper reseal for premium multi-serve, and rollstock film for high-speed vertical form fill seal lines. Alongside flexible packaging we supply folding cartons for variety packs, corrugated shippers for direct to consumer orders, pressure sensitive labels, and counter or PDQ displays for grocery placement.
Because we source production through a vetted network of manufacturing partners rather than manufacturing ourselves, no single production method limits what we can offer. Start with a conversation about your current specification and we will map out what your range actually needs.
A strong barrier film protects against oxygen and moisture, but it does not protect against physical shock in transit. Crushing usually comes down to insufficient cushioning air inside the bag, not the film strength itself. Chips need enough fill volume to absorb the impact of stacking and handling throughout the supply chain.
Nitrogen flushing solves both problems at once. It displaces the oxygen that would otherwise turn the frying oil rancid, and the gas itself provides the cushion the chips need to survive distribution intact. We specify fill volume and nitrogen flush level against your actual distribution distance, since a bag traveling across the country needs more cushioning than one selling within the same city.
Yes, and this is one of the main reasons chip and crisp brands come to us. Film web width, seal temperature range, and unwind direction all have to suit the machine running the line, and running film that is slightly off-spec on a high-speed vertical form fill seal line causes seal failures and downtime fast.
We contact your equipment provider or co-packer directly and work from their machine data through our co-manufacturer partnership service. Confirming compatibility before a full roll of film ships costs considerably less than discovering a mismatch mid-production run.
Mono material polyethylene structures qualify for store drop-off recycling across much of North America, though they carry a lower oxygen barrier than foil or metallized laminates, which matters more for chips than for many other snack categories given how quickly frying oil oxidizes. Post-consumer recycled content cuts virgin plastic without changing the recycling route or the barrier performance significantly.
We set out what each option does to your barrier, your shelf life, and your unit cost, then you decide. For chips specifically, we recommend testing shelf life carefully before committing a whole production run to a lower-barrier sustainable structure.
Minimum quantities depend on the format, the print method, and the manufacturer we source from, so a single figure would mislead most brands who ask. Rollstock runs to a different minimum than finished bags, and digital printing carries lower minimums than plate-based printing, which matters for brands running seasonal flavors.
What we can do is separate the print minimum from your cash outlay. Our make and hold inventory programs let you print at the quantity that earns the best unit price, then release stock against actual usage, so you are not funding twelve months of a limited edition flavor to reach a price break.
Yes. We operate from North York in Toronto and supply brand owners across Canada and throughout the United States. Cross-border movement is routine here, and customs brokerage forms part of what we handle, so a Canadian brand shipping into a US distribution network is not managing clearance separately.
Delivery scheduling, inventory positioning, and freight coordination run through our delivery and inventory management service. If you operate several facilities or use co-packers in different locations, we can hold stock centrally and release it to each site. Call 416-688-8641 or use the form on this page to get started.
Send us your current bag specification and your distribution route. We come back with where barrier or cushioning is falling short and what the same range costs running through one supplier. No obligation to move anything, and no pressure to change what already works.
